Techtron — AI Tax Assistant for Freelancers
01 / Problem
Managing tax relief eligibility, parsing receipt expenses, and calculating tax estimates is complex and time-consuming for freelancers and gig workers in Malaysia, who lack automated tools tailored to local tax relief categories.
02 / Approach
Built a mobile solution during the 24-hour Alibaba Cloud Hackathon Malaysia 2025. Developed a Flutter cross-platform mobile frontend connected to Alibaba Cloud Model Studio's Qwen-VL-Max vision LLM to parse receipts and bank statements, automatically categorizing transactions into local tax relief buckets.
03 / Architecture
Flutter mobile frontend using Material Design components. Media and documents are uploaded to Alibaba Cloud OSS storage, processed through Qwen-VL-Max multimodal vision AI for structured OCR and tax relief classification, and fed into Alibaba Cloud Quick BI analytics for real-time tax estimations.
04 / Outcome
Shipped a working AI tax assistant in 24 hours at Menara Affin, Kuala Lumpur, demonstrating automated receipt parsing, instant tax relief tagging, and financial analytics for independent workers.
